Campaigns
Marketing → Campaigns is where your ad campaigns live: the ones Uncog AI suggests and the ones you ask for, on LinkedIn and Google Ads. Uncog AI writes a campaign, you approve it, Uncog AI creates it in your own ad account, you launch it there, and Uncog AI then watches how it goes. Only Owners and Admins can open Campaigns.
Uncog AI never launches, pauses, changes or removes a campaign in LinkedIn or Google Ads, and never pays for ads: you pay LinkedIn or Google directly, from your own ad account.
Before you start
- Connect LinkedIn or Google Ads under Settings → Integrations, and turn on Allow Uncog to draft campaigns (LinkedIn) or Allow Uncog to create paused campaigns (Google Ads) in the connection's details. See Integrations.
- Your ad account must be ready: a LinkedIn Page with an ad account, or a Google Ads account. If your Page has no ad account yet, Uncog AI shows how to set one up, with Check Again once you have.
- Confirm your ideal customer. Uncog AI suggests campaigns aimed at it; without one, New Campaign asks who you most want to reach first.
The list
Campaigns lists every campaign, newest first, with its channel, its status, when it starts, what it has spent and the leads it has brought. Switch between All, LinkedIn and Google Ads, or filter by status with Filters. Choose a campaign to open it.
A campaign's status is one of:
- Suggested: Uncog AI wrote it from a suggestion and nobody has approved it yet.
- Draft: you are shaping it in Uncog AI. Nothing exists in your ad account.
- Pending Approval: approved in Uncog AI and waiting to be created in the ad account, or created there (a LinkedIn draft, a paused Google Ads campaign) and waiting for you to launch it and for the ad network's review.
- Live: running in your ad account.
- Paused: it ran, and is paused in your ad account.
- Ended: finished, past its end date, removed in the ad account, or archived here.
Managed by Uncog beside a status means Uncog's team runs that channel's campaigns for you (see Setup below).
Start a campaign Uncog AI suggests
When a channel is ready and you have no campaign running on it, Uncog AI suggests one — "Uncog thinks a LinkedIn campaign aimed at finance managers at construction services businesses in QLD is worth running" — as a card on your Home page and on the Business Pulse. Choose Start and Uncog AI writes the campaign from your ideal customer and your own numbers, then opens it for you to approve. Choosing Start twice opens the same campaign. Later brings the card back in a week; Skip (or Not Useful on Home) puts it away for good, until your ideal customer changes.
New Campaign
- Choose New Campaign and pick LinkedIn or Google Ads. A channel that isn't connected says where to connect it.
- If you've confirmed your ideal customer, Uncog AI has already written the campaign it would suggest under Best fit right now, as a sentence — for example, "Get more enquiries from finance managers (any job title) at construction services businesses with 11–50 staff in QLD for your business". Tap any underlined part to change it: the choices open under the sentence, each saying what it means ("Where 22 of your 31 customers are"). Your changes apply to this campaign only; your ideal customer stays as it is. Or Try One of These offers other campaigns your numbers support, each with why. Describe Something Else opens a box to say what the campaign should do in your own words; as you type, Uncog AI offers an ending in grey — press Tab to take it — and under Uncog Can Fill in the Gaps you can let it add an Offer from your Knowledge, a Place where most of your customers are, or Avoid who your ideal customer leaves out.
- On LinkedIn, Industry reaches people at businesses in the industries you pick, and Job title is optional: it offers titles that at least two of your customers' contacts share. Who your ideal customer leaves out is left out of the campaign too. What Uncog Will Build shows LinkedIn's estimate of the audience for your choices.
- Without a confirmed ideal customer, the drawer asks First, who do you most want to reach?: pick one of the suggestions for your industry, or describe them and choose Tidy It Up, then Use This. Uncog AI saves your answer as your ideal customer and aims the campaign at it.
- Most to Spend a Day: pick Test, Suggested or Push, or Custom for your own amount (at least $10 on LinkedIn, $5 on Google Ads, in your ad account's currency). With enough clicks in the last 90 days, Uncog AI says roughly how many clicks a day the amount buys.
- Send People To: one of your published landing pages, or Your website. Sending people to a page tells Uncog AI which visits, chats and leads came from this campaign.
- Choose Create Suggestion. Uncog AI reads your last 90 days on that channel (and, for Google Ads, the searches that showed your ads) and writes one campaign: a name, the places, a daily budget no higher than yours, dates, why it suggests them, and the creative — up to three ad-copy ideas on LinkedIn; keywords, headlines and descriptions on Google Ads. It can write up to 10 campaigns a day for your account, across both channels. Nothing goes live until you approve it.
A campaign's page
The page shows the campaign's details (its channel, what it aims at, the places, where it sends people with the tagged link and Copy, the daily budget, when it runs, and Open in LinkedIn or Open in Google Ads once it's there), its Creative, and once it has run, its Performance.
Next steps, one card at a time, walk you through it in order:
- Approve the creative: read the ad copy (or the headlines, descriptions and keywords) under Creative and choose Approve Creative. To change anything first, choose Edit Campaign (or Edit at the top): the places, the budget and dates, where it sends people, and on LinkedIn the objective, industries, job functions, seniority, company sizes and job titles; on Google Ads the keywords (each Phrase or Exact), negative keywords, headlines and descriptions. Choose Save Changes. Places and job titles are checked with the ad network; one it doesn't know is shown so you can try another spelling. If a LinkedIn campaign reaches places, industries or business sizes outside your ideal customer, the editor says which, and Suggest Adding Them to My Profile puts a suggested change on Home.
- Confirm the budget: the card says what the daily budget comes to in a month. Choose Confirm Budget.
- Create it in your ad account: once both are approved, Create Draft in LinkedIn or Create in Google Ads at the top opens the editor's create panel. Read LinkedIn's notice about discrimination, keep the box confirming the ads aren't political advertising ticked, and choose Create Draft in LinkedIn — the campaign is created in your ad account as a draft, which spends nothing. On Google Ads, keep the political-advertising box ticked and choose Create Paused in Google Ads — the campaign, its keywords and the ad are created paused, which spends nothing. If Google refuses part of it (for example a headline its ad policies don't allow), the campaign says which part: change it, save and try again.
- Launch it: the card links to LinkedIn Campaign Manager, where you add an ad (copy one of the ideas with Copy) and launch the draft, or to Google Ads, where you turn the campaign on once Google has reviewed the ad. Google runs it only once your billing details are set up there, and may spend up to twice the daily budget on a busy day. Uncog AI reads the campaign's status from the ad network at each sync, so the page shows Live once it's running.
- After a week: once the campaign has served for 7 days, Uncog AI says whether it's working — This is working — extend it? when it has brought a lead at or under what a lead usually costs you on that channel, or its click rate is healthy; This isn't working — pause it? otherwise — with a link to the ad account, where you extend or pause it.
Later on any card brings it back tomorrow morning; Skip puts it away.
The Timeline tells the campaign's story: when it was suggested or created, approved, created in the ad account, first served, went live, what Uncog AI found afterwards, and when it ended, with its latest week's figures.
A campaign already in your ad account can't be changed in Uncog AI: change it in LinkedIn or Google Ads. Uncog AI can't target people by age, gender or any other personal characteristic; a Search campaign reaches people by what they search and where they are.
What Uncog AI measures
Once a campaign is live, Uncog AI notes your cost per lead on that channel (and, when the campaign sends people to one of your pages, the leads from chats on it) and checks them again after a few weeks, as it does for anything else you act on. The result shows under What You've Changed on the Business Pulse and, when something changed, as a card on Home. Performance on the campaign's page shows its own spend, impressions, clicks and leads, and with a page, that page's visits, chats and the details visitors left.
Archive or delete
Choose … on a campaign's page (or beside it in the list) and then Archive Campaign to end a campaign that is in your ad account: it shows as Ended here, and the campaign in LinkedIn or Google Ads stays as it is — pause or remove it there if you don't want it. A campaign nothing was created for can be deleted instead with Delete Campaign. A campaign being created can't be deleted.
Setup
Marketing → Setup holds how campaigns run on each channel. Only Owners and Admins can open it.
- Monthly Budget Cap: the most you want campaigns on that channel to spend in a month, in your ad account's currency. New campaigns Uncog AI suggests are kept within what's left of it. Leave it blank for no cap.
- Drafts Go To (LinkedIn): when your Page has more than one ad account, the one new campaigns are created in. Campaigns already made keep theirs. Google Ads shows the ad account campaigns are created in.
- Managed by Uncog: turn this on when Uncog's team runs that channel's campaigns for you. It changes nothing in the ad network; a campaign's launch step says Uncog will launch it, and the badge shows beside its status.
Choose Save Changes in the bar at the bottom. A channel that isn't connected says where to connect it.
Questions
Where did Campaign Suggestions on the Business Pulse go?
To Marketing → Campaigns. The Pulse still offers Uncog AI's suggestion as a card, with Start, and says how many campaigns are running.
Why can't I create the campaign in LinkedIn or Google Ads yet?
Both sign-offs come first: Approve Creative and Confirm Budget under Next steps on the campaign's page. The create panel says which is missing.
Can Uncog AI launch, pause or stop a campaign for me?
No. Uncog AI creates a draft (LinkedIn) or a paused campaign (Google Ads) and reads how it is going; launching, pausing, changing and removing it happen in your ad account.
