Uncog AILog In

Ask Uncog

Ask Uncog is one search box for the whole app. Type a name, an email address, a phone number or a question, and it finds the matching contacts, companies, workflows and upcoming events, offers the common tasks, and points you to the help that answers your question. You do not need to know which page holds what.

Open Ask Uncog

There are two ways in, on any page:

  • Click the search bar at the top that says Ask Uncog anything, or find a customer…, or start typing in it.
  • Press ⌘K on a Mac, or Ctrl+K on Windows and other computers.

The shortcut does nothing while another window or panel is open, such as a form or the help assistant. Close that first, then press it again. This keeps a half-filled form from being covered up.

On a phone, Ask Uncog fills the screen. Choose Cancel to close it.

Before you type

Ask Uncog shows:

  • Recent: the last eight contacts, companies and workflows you opened on this device in this account. Anything archived or deleted since drops off the list.
  • Quick Actions: Add a Contact, Add a Company, Add a Meeting or Reminder and Start a Workflow.
  • Help: a few common questions about the page you were on. Choosing one asks the help assistant.
  • Go To: the pages in the sidebar, in the sidebar's order.

Search

Type at least two characters. Results appear as you type, in this order:

  1. Quick Actions that match what you typed, such as "add contact", "new meeting" or "remind me".
  2. Contacts, matched by name, email address, company or phone number.
  3. Companies, matched by name, website or phone number.
  4. Workflows, matched by the case's title or the customer's name.
  5. Calendar: upcoming events, up to about three months ahead, matched by title or by a contact on the event.
  6. Create: Add '…' as a Contact and Add '…' as a Company, using what you typed.
  7. Go To: pages whose name matches, including Settings pages such as Team, pages inside another page such as Conversations and Workflows (the tabs of Smart Agent), pages with no sidebar item such as My Work and Review, and Profile pages such as Sign-in Methods.
  8. Help: guides and questions from these help pages whose titles match, and Ask the Help Assistant: '…'.

Each group shows up to five results. When there are more, choose See all to open the list already filtered by what you typed: the People or Companies tab of Contacts, or Workflows. The calendar shows More Results instead, which opens the calendar; type more of the name to narrow the list.

To search by phone number, type at least six digits. Spaces, brackets and a leading 0 or +61 are fine.

Use the arrow keys to move through the results and Enter to open one, or click it. A result opens in a new tab if you hold ⌘ (Mac) or Ctrl while clicking.

Contacts, companies, workflows and events match when they contain what you typed, so "sarah" finds Sarah Ng. Quick actions, pages and help match the start of each word, so "inv team" finds "How do I invite my team?". Ask Uncog does not correct spelling mistakes, and it does not search inside the text of help articles, emails or notes.

What each result does

  • A contact, company or workflow opens its page.
  • A calendar event opens the calendar on that event's month, with the event's details showing.
  • A quick action or a create result opens the form for that record, filled in with what you typed. Nothing is saved until you choose to save it in that form.
  • A help guide or question opens the help page in a new tab.
  • Ask the Help Assistant opens the help assistant and sends your question. It counts towards the assistant's daily limit, as typing the question there would.

If nothing matches, Ask Uncog says so and still offers to add what you typed as a contact or a company, or to ask the help assistant.

Who can use it

Everyone in the account can open Ask Uncog. Contacts, companies, workflows, calendar events, recent records and the quick actions appear for owners, admins and members. The Uncog AI onboarding team sees help and the pages they can open.

Privacy

What you type is not saved or recorded. Uncog AI keeps only a count of how often a search finds nothing and what kind of result was opened, never the words. Your recent records are kept on your device, list only which records you opened, and are removed when you choose Log Out.
